Team Coaching
The aim of team coaching is for the team as a whole to develop and improve performance.
In team coaching the coach works with the team leader and the team rather than just the team leader alone. The aim is for the team as a whole to develop and improve performance. The ethos behind team coaching is that everybody is part of making a great team not just the leader. There are a variety of reasons for considering team coaching, but examples can include;
- ‘Muddling along’
- Low moral and poor performance
- Lack of trust and confidence
- New team that needs to be effective quickly
- New manager joining a long established team or a manager promoted from the existing staff team
- Reorganisation
Team coaching may start with an awayday, but usually takes the form of a series of half day meetings. The coach helps the team to:
- Gain clarity around aims and objectives
- Improve performance
- Improve communication
- Develop effective processes
- Improve leadership and accountability
Resolving Team Conflict
When things go wrong, handling conflict effectively is an important part of teamwork. Coach for a Change works with teams to help them understand the basis of unresolved conflicts and the changes needed for the team to progress. Team coaching can help the team to:
- Resolve conflict;
- Understand and manage emotions more effectively;
